This +1 striking ghost touch katana is made from a whisker stolen from the king of cats over 300 years ago by a catfolk rogue named Vashu Vigaru. He sought the magic of the whisker to preternaturally extend his life, and some believe he still lives, having successfully divested himself of the sword to escape the king's wrath in the end.

Activate—Whisker's Sense F (concentrate)

Frequency once per hour

Trigger Your turn ends

Effect You extend your senses through the blade, allowing you to react to nearby movement. Vashu's Ninth Life gains the parry trait and raises itself into parrying position, granting you a +1 circumstance bonus to AC until the start of your next turn.

Effect: Vashu's Ninth Life

Activate—Full of Life R (concentrate)

Frequency once per day

Trigger You slay a living creature with Vashu's Ninth Life

Effect A portion of the slain creature's life force travels through the blade and into your soul, bolstering your own life. You gain the benefits of the Diehard feat for 1 minute. This causes you to die from the dying condition at dying 5 rather than dying 4.

Trait Effects

Deadly: On a critical hit, the weapon adds a weapon damage die of the listed size. Roll this after doubling the weapon’s damage. This increases to two dice if the weapon has a _greater striking rune_ and three dice if the weapon has a _major striking rune_. For instance, a rapier with a _greater striking rune_ deals 2d8 extra piercing damage on a critical hit. An ability that changes the size of the weapon’s normal damage dice doesn’t change the size of its deadly die.

Magical: Something with the magical trait is imbued with magical energies not tied to a specific tradition of magic. Some items or effects are closely tied to a particular tradition of magic. In these cases, the item has the arcane, divine, occult, or primal trait instead of the magical trait. Any of these traits indicate that the item is magical.

Two-Hand: This weapon can be wielded with two hands to change its weapon damage die to the indicated value. This change applies to all the weapon’s damage dice.

Versatile: A versatile weapon can be used to deal a different type of damage than its listed type. This trait indicates the alternate damage type. For instance, a piercing weapon with versatile S can deal piercing or slashing damage. You choose the damage type each time you attack.

Critical Specialisation Effects

Certain effects can grant you benefits when you make a Strike with certain weapons and get a critical success. This is called a critical specialisation effect. The exact effect depends on which weapon group your weapon belongs to, as listed below. You can always decide not to add the critical specialisation effect of your weapon.

Sword: The target is made off-balance by your attack, becoming off-guard until the start of your next turn.
