Item: Carver-cutter (True)
Many of the experienced woodcarvers of the Plane of Wood learn to fight as well, the better to travel into hazardous areas in search of rare and beautiful types of wood for their craft. A carver-cutter serves a dual role as a weapon and a tool for felling trees and engraving wood. The +3 keen greater striking battle axe looks like an exquisitely made woodcutting axe.
Activate - Carving Chisel 1 (concentrate, manipulate)
Effect You pull free a woodworking chisel stored in the knob of the axe. It can have any standard chisel shape you imagine as you activate this ability. You get a +3 item bonus to Crafting checks for woodworking if you use chisels from the carver-cutter. The chisel also functions as a main-gauche. All runes on the axe are replicated on the chisel, but only while both items are on the same person. You can Interact to reinsert the chisel.
Activate - Chop Down 2
Frequency once per hour
Effect Make a Strike with the axe against a plant creature or a creature made primarily of wood. This Strike deals an additional 4d6 precision damage, and on a hit, the creature is Clumsy 1 for 1 minute.
Trait Effects
Magical: Something with the magical trait is imbued with magical energies not tied to a specific tradition of magic. Some items or effects are closely tied to a particular tradition of magic. In these cases, the item has the arcane, divine, occult, or primal trait instead of the magical trait. Any of these traits indicate that the item is magical.
Sweep: This weapon makes wide swinging attacks. When you attack with this weapon, you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to your attack roll if you already attempted to attack a different target this turn using this weapon.
Wood: Effects with the wood trait conjure or manipulate wood. Those that manipulate wood have no effect in an area without wood. Creatures with this trait consist primarily of wood or have a connection to magical wood. These planes consist of trees and other flora latticed in organic patterns. Wood planes are often perfectly constructed to match their desired purpose or environment but aren’t usually outright hostile to visitors.
Critical Specialisation Effects
Certain effects can grant you benefits when you make a Strike with certain weapons and get a critical success. This is called a critical specialisation effect. The exact effect depends on which weapon group your weapon belongs to, as listed below. You can always decide not to add the critical specialisation effect of your weapon.
Axe: Choose one creature adjacent to the initial target and within reach. If its AC is lower than your attack roll result for the critical hit, you deal damage to that creature equal to the result of the weapon damage die you rolled (including extra dice for its striking rune, if any). This damage isn't doubled, and no bonuses or other additional dice apply.
