Hard work can earn some money, but truly grandiose wealth is built on the backs of others. Devils convince others to work for you, extracting value from them. You can Earn Income at the same time as you perform another downtime activity. Once per week, from any distance, the devil who holds your bargained contract can invoke a non-compete clause, imposing a –4 circumstance penalty to your checks to Earn Income for 1 week.

Activate—Enforce Competition 2 (concentrate, manipulate)

Frequency once per day

Effect You call upon an antitrust provision in your contract. The contract casts paranoia (DC 19), and if the target has more allies within the spell's range than you, they take a –2 circumstance penalty to their Will save.

Trait Effects

Contract: A contract is a type of item that magically establishes an agreement between multiple parties and typically grants magical benefits.

Invested: A character can invest only 10 magical items that have the invested trait. None of the magical effects of the item apply if the character hasn’t invested it, nor can it be activated, though the character still gains any normal benefits from wearing the physical item (like a hat keeping rain off their head).

Magical: Something with the magical trait is imbued with magical energies not tied to a specific tradition of magic. Some items or effects are closely tied to a particular tradition of magic. In these cases, the item has the arcane, divine, occult, or primal trait instead of the magical trait. Any of these traits indicate that the item is magical.
