Item: Frost Fair Yanyuedao
The Frost Fair Yanyuedao is a +2 greater striking yanyuedao (use statistics for glaive) once wielded by a legendary military general from Goka. This weapon was constructed from pieces harvested from a dragon's body. When in an area of severe cold or colder, the Frost Fair Yanyuedao becomes a +3 major striking yanyuedao with a glowing blue cutting edge and the following ability.
Activate—Dragon Chill 1 (manipulate)
Effect Until the end of your turn, the Frost Fair Yanyuedao gains the effects of a Greater Frost rune. While under this effect, if you critically succeed at a Strike using this weapon against a creature who has resistance or immunity to cold, that creature must attempt a DC 31 Fortitude save or be Slowed 1 for 1 minute.
Trait Effects
Artifact: Items with this trait are artifacts. These magic items can't be crafted by normal means, and they can't be damaged by normal means. Artifacts are always rare or unique.
Cold: Effects with this trait deal cold damage. Creatures with this trait have a connection to magical cold.
Deadly: On a critical hit, the weapon adds a weapon damage die of the listed size. Roll this after doubling the weapon’s damage. This increases to two dice if the weapon has a _greater striking rune_ and three dice if the weapon has a _major striking rune_. For instance, a rapier with a _greater striking rune_ deals 2d8 extra piercing damage on a critical hit. An ability that changes the size of the weapon’s normal damage dice doesn’t change the size of its deadly die.
Forceful: This weapon becomes more dangerous as you build momentum. When you attack with it more than once on your turn, the second attack gains a circumstance bonus to damage equal to the number of weapon damage dice, and each later attack gains a circumstance bonus to damage equal to double the number of damage dice.
Reach: This weapon can be used to attack enemies up to 10 feet away instead of only adjacent enemies. For creatures with reach, the weapon increases their reach by 5 feet.
Critical Specialisation Effects
Certain effects can grant you benefits when you make a Strike with certain weapons and get a critical success. This is called a critical specialisation effect. The exact effect depends on which weapon group your weapon belongs to, as listed below. You can always decide not to add the critical specialisation effect of your weapon.
Polearm: Move the target 5 feet in a direction of your choice. This is forced movement.
