This small gold cameo in the shape of an oval hangs on a delicate silver chain. When opened, the cameo reveals tiny paintings of a man and a woman—Florin Kindler's parents. When the Kindler cameo is invested, the images within shift in appearance to portray the two most important people in the wearer's life.

Activate—Recall Better Times2 (concentrate, manipulate)

Frequency once per day

Effect You open the cameo and regard the images within of the two most important people in your life, bolstering yourself with fond memories. You regain 3d10+12 Hit Points, and you gain a +2 status bonus to Will saves for 1 minute. You also immediately recover from any persistent damage you're currently taking.

Effect: Kindler Cameo

Activate—Sense Soulheart 1 minute (concentrate)

Frequency once per day

Requirements You are in Bastardhall while the castle is cursed

Effect By clutching the closed cameo in a fist, shutting your eyes, and concentrating, the cameo's magic reaches out through Bastardhall toward the closest soulheart. At the end of a minute of concentration, you know the direction and approximate distance to a nearby soulheart (this is typically, but not always, the closest soulheart). This activation doesn't discern between soulhearts whose locations you already know about or not, and as such, Activating this power while you or a nearby ally carry a soulheart isn't particularly helpful. The cameo can't detect a soulheart that's still within a section of Bastardhall that hasn't yet been unlocked. If no soulhearts can be detected, you know this, but the activation's daily use is still consumed.

Trait Effects

Invested: A character can invest only 10 magical items that have the invested trait. None of the magical effects of the item apply if the character hasn’t invested it, nor can it be activated, though the character still gains any normal benefits from wearing the physical item (like a hat keeping rain off their head).

Occult: This magic comes from the occult tradition, calling upon bizarre and ephemeral mysteries. Anything with this trait is magical. A creature with this trait is primarily constituted of or has a strong connection to occult magic.
